Important Components in a Building’s Fire Protection System

With leading German supplier, D + H Mechatronic, Smoke Ventilation Systems supply and install electro-mechanical drives.

Mechatronic chain drives and rack and pinion drives, 24vdc and 230vac, are important components in a building’s fire protection system.

The Mechatronic chain drives are encased in anodised aluminium housings and meet European standard DIN EN 12101-2 for smoke ventilation.

The Mechatronic rack and pinion drives for skylights and roof vents are also encased in anodised aluminium tubes and are rated IP65.

Both drives are fire resistant, being able to withstand 300 degrees C for 30 minutes, and rated for 10,000 double strokes, load rated, in accordance with European Standard DIN 18232.

D + H Mechtronic’s Lift Smoke Control System

Smoke Ventilation Systems also offers D + H Mechtronic’s Lift Smoke Control System.

Lift Smoke Control is a complete system that takes care of smoke exhaust from lift shafts.

In the case of fire the smoke exhaust vent is opened at the top of the shaft by electrically powered D + N Mechatronic drives. Monitoring and smoke detection is achieved by means of sensors throughout the entire lift shaft.

When closed the smoke exhaust vents avoid unnecessary heat loss caused by uncontrolled escape. For normal ventilation purposes the drives can be operated manually or by preset requirements.
